As a Speaker

a1.jpgaspur.jpggroup-shot-8x10.jpgfca-045.jpg I feed off of crowds. I love the energy, the passion, the atmosphere of crowds, particularly of youth or college students. I suppose that is why the older I get, it seems my audience gets younger. Over the years I have been filled with wonder that God would use a hick-accented preacher like me who talks too fast for His glory. In recent days challenging college students to live passionately at places like Harvard University, the University of Florida, Clemson University, North Greenville University, Liberty University, UNC, ECU, and our own Southeastern College only inspires me more to give all I have to all He is. From local churches of all sizes to campuses and conferences, speaking has been a major part of the ministry God has allowed me to enjoy all my adult life.cover jeffjosh joshfriends joshsarah mitchandguys worship1 worship4 worship5 worship6 zoeTopics I focus on when speaking at churches, conferences, or campuses:

  • EVANGELISM WEEKEND: FROM ATTRACTIONAL TO MISSIONAL: Focuses on moving a church from evangelism that is primarily attractional to a focus on the 3 “I’s” of evangelism: Incarnational, Intentional, and Interesting. That is, we live our faith, we share our faith, and we do so in a manner that is winsome and moves beyond a brief presentation to the sharing of life. In other words, a little more I Thess. 1:5-10 kind of witness.
  • REACHING THE COMING GENERATION: We have more young adults in the US than ever in our history. Yet the church has failed to captivate this generation for the gospel. Understanding and relating the gospel to this generation has never been more vital.
  • JOIN THE MOVEMENT: From my new book, a focus on rediscovering the Christian life as a life spent not maintaining what we have, but advancing a movement.
  • RAISING THE BAR: A conference for youth, their parents, and those who work with youth. Focus–Young people are not children finishing childhood, but young adults entering adulthood. This conferences looks at the Bible, history (especially how youth have been involved in great awakenings), and our time to give practical guidance on how to prepare and inspire youth to change the world. This includes a focus for parents on how to raise children not only to survive in this world, but to be a part of changing it.
  • WHAT GOD CAN DO: A look at the sweep of historical movements of God and what they can teach the church today about change, about truth, about spirituality, and about life.
  • REACHING THE RADICALLY UNCHURCHED: The American church has largely failed at penetrating the hardcore, unchurched population. Why we should invade the culture and how to do so effectively are the emphases of this seminar.
  • Other subjects include practical lessons for teachers, Servant Evangelism (how to serve your community to share Christ), Prayer emphases.

NOTE: Many events I do, particularly those relatiing to students, involves bringing a band whenever possible. Please see “the Band” page for more information. Here is some more information about my speaking ministry.
